Require drivers to re-take a driver's test periodically, based on age

Every year, there are anywhere between 40,000-50,000 fatalities due to car crashes in the U.S. Statistically, both the highest rate of crashes and the highest rate of fatalities occur in ages 16-20, and 70+.

I propose that:

  1. Between the ages of 16-20, drivers be required to re-take a driver’s test once a year. Once above this age, the requirement could be changed to once every 5 or 10 years.
  2. Once reaching age 62, which is the government’s official definition of a senior citizen, the requirement changes back to once a year.

I believe with these tests, crash and fatality rates can be reduced, as any issues with a driver’s performance could be monitored, and potentially the person’s license revoked if they pose a risk to public safety.
