Cap rent. Right now it is nearly impossible to get an apartment or any place for that matter. To many people due to many different reasons all over America are struggling to put a roof over their head because of ridiculous restrictions put on rental properties. Such as making 3-4 times the rent, one bedroom apartments being near $2000. No working class citizen, or blue collar can afford this. Please fix these issues they are so out of hand it should be illegal. Please put a reasonable cap on how much a rental property can charge depending on how many bedrooms, get rid of properties being allowed to charge anything over 1 maybe 2 times the rent.
The problem is with interests, property taxes, and honestly big corporations buying up houses in one area so they can raise the property value then they sell them off. It’s not the normal mom and pop landlords causing the issues it’s the big companies. I know several landlords with a few doors that hardly make money or even lose money. Then if the tenant trash the unit they have to fix it past the deposit it comes out of the landlords pocket.
I think the true answer is banning corporations from buying up single family homes so people can afford to purchase homes again.
I agree rent is crazy! But we have to look at the root cause on it.

I don’t believe the government good or bad should ever set/cap prices for anything.
I agree, corporations should not be allowed to own single or even multi-family properties. The better policy proposal would be more focused on WHO is purchasing and leasing the properties. The restrictions and qualification associated with renting are in place to protect owners who lease their properties. Overall, the market rates would decrease if corps were not allowed to sink funds into properties that are meant to be owned by individuals and families.
