Job Listings and the Hiring Cycle needs serious regulation and reform:
-
Job Must Exist – no ghost listing
-
No “EVERGREEN” Posts
The practice of posting a job on a continuous basis - whether it’s filled or not.
Done to collect resumes in order to quickly replace anyone who quits or asks for a raise.
-
SALARY must be clearly defined in the AD
-
INSURANCE information must be LISTED – Healthcare Provider, Plans offered and average cost of each plan.
If Vision and Dental – same must be provided if different from the Healthcare provider.
-
1 JOB, 1 LISTING
-
END Multi-City Postings for the same job*
EXAMPLE: OpenTable needs a QA Analyst in Charlotte…a QA Technician in Austin…a QA Expert in Detroit…a QA Associate in Seattle.
This is routinely done for many reasons:
- to attract job seekers in local markets
- to falsely advertise a REMOTE job as a LOCAL job
- to artificially inflate your company’s prosperity and the need for labor, fooling job seekers into spending an inordinate amount of time applying for the multiple positions you have available.
INTERVIEWING and THE HIRING PROCESS
- END Excessive Interview Rounds
Limit employers to the amount of interviews they can make the average candidate endure. Job seekers routinely attend 6+ interviews PER job. It’s excessive and it’s disrespectful and abusive.
- STOP Projects and Tasks being assigned in job interviews
Assignments/Projects/Tasks are becoming the norm at job interviews now. Exploiting free labor and desperate people.
Typically assigned LATE in the interview process …when you’ve “almost got the job” and are highly-invested.
-
Any Tasks/Assignments given out must be IN THE LISTING with an accurate estimation time of completion.
-
Any PROJECT or TASK assigned that is beyond filling out paperwork or taking a lengthy exam – (something you must create or assemble) the applicant **MUST be compensated $$$ ** for their time.
