I propose a policy to ban ‘ghost job’ postings and require all job listings to include salary ranges. Ghost listings mislead applicants, wasting valuable time and resources, while a lack of salary transparency discourages fair, informed applications. Many job seekers are wasting their time, as 8 out of 10 employers post these fake online listings without any intent on hiring a candidate. Eliminating these issues would not only strengthen trust in the hiring process but also drive economic growth: with clear, honest job listings, candidates are more likely to apply for a higher volume of jobs, increasing workforce engagement and matching talent with employers more effectively. A transparent job market benefits both job seekers and employers, supporting a stronger, more dynamic economy.
