The family unit has been under attack, and as a result, we are dealing with a significant mental health crisis. Fertility rates are also continuing to fall. If a new tax credit were implemented for those who file their taxes married-jointly, a credit of $500 per dependent child could be issued. This would incentivize keeping families together and ease some of the financial burden that comes with having children in a practical way.
How about keeping all your earnings? It after all is supposed to be Our earnings. It should be Our choice to give. Government doesn’t have the power to take if Our earnings and Our Property are truly Ours. I believe it is called stealing when something is taken by force or threat. When We don’t have the power to own Property or Wages how can Our efforts be considered anything more than the efforts of slaves? When I read the Preamble to Our Constitution I don’t see any indication the Author’s thought government would have the right to steal Our Wages or Property.
One has to read very liberally to envision a reading of the Preamble where the Author’s invishioned a government with the right to take by threat, force or the abuse of power while promoting “Liberty”.
I believe current taxation is in direct opposition to the Ideals expressed in the Constitution. For these and other reasons I believe Our only solution is to Amend Our Constitution to restrict governments current abuse of taxation.
I suggest the following:
Mathew, your proposal incentivizes our current tax system (bad) to support the nuclear family (good). Taxes should largely be done away with, along with the IRS, in my opinion. You seem to be operating within the confines of the currently corrupt and failed system, which needs to be broken apart and rebuilt with the Constitution in mind.
Your cause is just, and your intent is good and well-founded, but it is based on slight adjustments to the existing unconstitutional but normalized IRS extortion racket, which nullifies the advantages of your end goal, in my opinion. Perhaps you might find another form of incentive that doesn’t continue to justify the existance of the privately-owned gestapo IRS and its current annual wealth confiscation scheme?
The whole idea of making America great again, is to break the mould of what has since made America weak before, as many see it. We cannot become great again, while still operating within the confines of the very systems that weakened the American People for the past 100 years, right? As such, a $500 child tax credit isn’t exactly “breaking any moulds” that we so desperately need right now. This is our LAST STAND – and it is for ALL the marbles.
Oh I’m certainly in favor of removing income taxes entirely. This is a suggestion if that is not possible, as I fear Congress will not be as much use as the voters are hoping they will be. To me, this is a practical option to restore the family unit assuming we are forced to keep the current tax policy. I would of course like it if this were changed.
Hello I believe from what I have seen, Representatives & Senators will do what they have to do to be reelected.
That being the case We the People must stop fighting amongst Ourselves over rich versus poor and concentrate on the real enemy; Congress. If We all win a reprieve from excessive taxation there are no losers. Application of equal taxation and equal representation and application of Services is a reasonable goal. That is why I propose a Constitutional Amendment to end or restrict all forms of Direct Taxation.
As my proposed Amendment defines taxation directly applied to Our Citizens will end with the exception of a limited $100.00 Capitation Tax. All other Taxes would have to be indirect taxes like Tariffs, Sales and Stamp Taxes. There would be no Income, Property or other Taxes that would threaten Citizens by taking their Personal Property, Homes etc. Seems to be a reasonable goal when One reads the Preamble to Our Constitution as well as every Amendment with the exception of Amendments 16 & 17 both of which need Repeal. Have a Merry Christmas Fred Walker
