Protect the elderly from abuse in nursing homes

Create stricter regulations in nursing homes to ensure safety of elderly housed in nursing homes to prevent elder abuse. Elders are us in the future and need protection from the abuse of staff and even other patients. Many are beaten, raped, neglected. I propose new regulations to be implemented to ensure their safety by serious fines, convictions for those who abuse elders and neglect them. A third party patient security advocate should be in every facility to watch and ensure our elders are safe. Too many times staff is too busy ignoring elders. Many have abusive behaviors and this needs to be corrected. Also limits on cost of housing should be addressed to ensure it is affordable to families and not a financial burden. More programs to be created to get community involved with elderly to let them know they are no longer forgotten. Their existence is dismal and fearful. It is unacceptable as a nation to treat our elderly as disposable. We all grow old and no one wants to be abused, left alone to stare out a window just waiting to die. Elders need to be cherished and protected in a safe, secure environment. Clean facilities that meet a strict criteria to ensure it what they deserve. Protect our elderly
