I believe our “old folks home” elderly care homes” “assisted living homes” needs more care. Why does our elders that HAVE to go live in an assisted living home have to pay for anything?!? While prisoners get free living, bed, 3 meals a day, tv, education, trades, medical, dental, gym, exercise/weights etc and most don’t work but yet they are taken care of better than our elders. Some employees treat the elders horribly kinda like some guards do inmates. Its sad. Our elderly deserve so much better.

100% agree. Don’t go to an assisted living place if at all possible. Family needs to step up and help yer loved ones. Especially your mom and dad.

Agreed. I worked on a locked-floor Geriatric Psych ward for 3 years. Many of them were from nursing homes. Some of them were not and it showed. While I agree that families should step up and care for their elderly relatives/parents. There are times (especially when it’s dementia related) where being at home isn’t the best option. Especially if the elderly is combative or threatens harm to themselves. There needs to be something set up for continued care while still giving respect and self-dignity to those who aren’t functioning as they used to.
