The way politicians are currently selected is broken. A secret elite club in each political party picks a handful of candidates for a primary and then we take over from there. This allows for corruption by controlling industries and special interests and promotes career politicians who only care about enriching themselves.
It should be the other way around. We the people should submit a list of people we think would make good candidates for each office. Then the party could review and offer invitations to the most popular people. Keep going down the list until a certain number agree to run in a campaign and then proceed with a primary and ultimately an election.
There’s also the question about political parties and the 2 party system in general which could be addressed. Definitely open to ideas and refinement.
