Permaculture Homesteads
There are 20,000 people around the world who have achieved their Permaculture Design Certification, and yet most of them do not have access to agricultural land.
A Permaculture Homestead program could lease agricultural land to one family at a time in each state, and then sell the land to them once they prove they can farm it. This would bring back sustainable family farming to the countryside.
This program would begin with one Permaculture Homestead per state, and then new farms would be expanded from there. That way, homesteads would be established evenly across the nation.
This policy would expand agricultural abundance for local communities. The policy would be focused on family-farming with the goal of increasing the population of productive farmers.
The prerequisites for applying would be:
• A married couple, with one of the spouses having achieved a Permaculture Design Certificate.
• US Citizenship.
Task Force
It would be wise to create a task force during the transition to design the Permaculture Homestead program so that it is ready by January. Permaculture experts from around the world would be the ideal people to lead the task force.
This program could also be integrated into the Freedom Cities project, with one Permaculture Homestead per Freedom City.
This policy is designed to be sustainable because the land would be sold to Permaculture Homesteaders. This could either be Federal land or private land.
Cost
This would be a $50 million program. Each state would be the location for one $1 million farm. The land would be rented until the Permaculture Homesteaders could pay for it and when they could be expected to farm it successfully.
Then the money from each sale would be used to purchase land for a new Permaculture Homestead, and the process would repeat. This is meant to be an ongoing, sustainable model.
