No cure – no profits act

Since drug companies are more interested in profits than people, let’s create a way to change that. Any profits from the sale of symptom alleviation drugs, must go towards research to find a cure for the disease. All symptom alleviating drug patents will expire after 10 years, no exceptions. Finding a new use for an old drug just to extend its patent will no longer be acceptable. All disease curing drug patents will expire after 25 years to allow less expensive generic versions to be created. Finally, any company that hides a cure for a disease in order to keep selling symptom alleviation drugs, will forgo ALL profits from the previous 5 years. (These funds will be distributed evenly among any patients awaiting a cure.)
