Going from one region, county, state, even sometimes as little distance as one side of a town to another, gas prices fluctuate by area, company, and taxes. If the gas price is nationalized and limited, the amount from one end to the other will be the same and allow us to have more money to put toward groceries and other things that will contribute to our economy. Keeping the price high or low based on the national average would also help in restricting imported gas prices from skyrocketing arbitrarily, as they did the 70s and early 2010s. It would also cut company costs and reduce a multitude of costs attributed to energy. Add in a national standard tax to it and you have government revenue to reduce the deficit, offset policy costs, and encourage internal oil production, rendering the American people with more control over the resource. And I feel like this could reduce US involvement in foreign wars centralized in the Middle East and Africa.
