National Voter ID Law

Agreed. Also recommend a federal commission explore the feasibility of implementing blockchain technology to ensure vote integrity.

I would add that we should be able to track our votes based on a receipt. We should be able to see everyone weā€™ve ever voted for, without tracking that receipt to a person so they canā€™t track us down or round us up.

This just makes sense. That means it will be very challenging to accomplish.

Also, with early voting available, thereā€™s no reason to have votes coming in until midnight, in any jurisdiction.
Thereā€™s too much fraud when people are sleeping.
All votes should be in by 3PM on the actual voting day.
This allows for same night results.

We already have something like this. REAL ID. Airports have, made use of it and in order to get it you must present your passport or birth certificate and SSN, along with other documentation proving citizenship and residency in your state.

If there is not a way to keep the Real ID systems secure, then presenting your passport or passport card should also be an option.

Voting is a sacred right and honor for CITIZENS only. Need Voter ID to true the vote and avoid fake ballots or non citizens from voting

Do we secretly already have it? :slightly_smiling_face:

This is a no brainer, definitely need to have an I.D. to vote!

We need to go back to voter I.D. and paper ballots

This is a no-brainer. We need ID, paper ballots, the count must be completed on election day and we should have election day be a national holiday. That way thereā€™s no excuse for not voting.

There would still need for voting not on the day due to travel, storms, essential workers (doctors, police, etc.)

Unfortunately, this would not prevent the situation of voting machines saying that you voted the way you wanted to vote, but actually counting your votes a different way. There is no way to stop that, in any computer system. I got a text saying that my vote was received and counted on the first or second day of early voting, in October, but there is zero sign that California has counted much yet.

WE ALREADY have ā€œVOTER IDā€! Simply demand that people show their ā€œREAL IDā€ They started this project in 2013 with a goal to finish by 2020. It looks lik thy finally finished it. There is a little emblem in drivers licenses that are ā€œREAL IDsā€. If you have the emblem, you can vote. If you donā€™t, you CANā€™T. In most states I believe it is a star. In some states, like california, it is another emblem. To get the REAL ID, you hav to hav a picture ID, lik a passport, and even utility documents and a social security card. THEY INSIST ON THE CARD, AND NOT JUST A NUMBER.

Anyway, if thy donā€™t have an ID, they shoudnā€™t b allowed to vote.

weā€™re talking about national elections. the federal government can impose requirements for national elections, or should be able to.

I agree 100% for ALL elections. Howeverā€¦

While this possibly may be fought due to separation of State/Federal, this could be worded that ANY election for a Federal position (President and Congress) MUST have voter id to submit vote.

Furthermoreā€¦

ANY state refusing a Federal law requiring voter id, forfeits electoral votes or federal representation (Congress) until election integrity is resolved.

Perhaps voting electronically would be best. Instant count. And single account authentication just like your bank account. Use features like required for Real IDā€™s to ensure it is a valid person getting the account. If we can trust doing banking electronically, we can trust voting.

Give a choice between showing a government issued ID or dipping your index finger in blue ink. It works in Africa, it should work here to reduce voter fraud.

Specific wording is needed in such legislation that bars all non-citizens from registering.

For timely processing of votes same day registration is a nightmare. It is allowed in NV, which is why the long delay in certification. Votes have to be cross checked with all counties to rule out multiple votes by one person before they can be counted.

I agree with all other points.
