National Elections Standards

Here is a list of common sense reforms I’d like to see for future elections. I’ve seen bits and pieces of this on the platform:

  1. Create a 3-day voting period, with a Friday or Monday being one of the days that is declared a national holiday. This will allow everyone to find a weekday or weekend day that works for them and will reduce long lines.
  2. Make it standard in all states that if you’re in line before closing time you will get to vote no matter how long it takes
  3. Require in-person voting with provisions to help disabled voters
  4. Paper ballots only
  5. No election machines should have technology that connects with the Internet
  6. Free government-provided ID that is proof of U.S. citizenship.
  7. Require each state to create a database that allows voters to verify that their vote was recorded properly. Also, allow every citizen to see anonymized election results for their state including images of each completed ballot minus personally identifiable information.
  8. Fully audit every house, senate, and presidential race with representatives from each party. This eliminates any claims of fraud or stolen elections.
  9. Create a law that prohibits the media and others from projecting winners until all voting locations have closed nationwide
  10. Counting must be concluded by the end of the third day except for close races that require a more careful approach or a recount
  11. Continuous live video feeds must be established outside and inside voting locations.
  12. Absentee ballots must be sent out with sufficient time to be received by the end of the third election day.
  13. Fines, loss of government positions, and/or criminal prosecution for fraud or not following election guidelines that disenfranchise voters

If nationwide election standards were created and carried out properly, there would never be uncertainty about the results again. This would be in everyone’s best interest.

Prosecution of voter fraud should be severe and public. I know so many people that believe their vote doesn’t count and don’t vote. This will help bring back trust to the people
