National Budget

The yearly spending budget needs to be overhauled. We are currently on pace to bankrupt our country. We cannot continue to spend more than we are bringing in. It is time that we require our government to balance our budget.

While I do not believe this is something that can happen overnight, it is time we take a good hard look at where we are spending our money and how much we are actually benefiting from how congress chooses to spend it.

It is common sense for anyone creating a budget that you cant spend more than you make, so why is it that our federal government thinks they can continue to allocate trillions over budget each year.

It should be a requirement of congress to create a balanced federal budget based on the prior years revenue at the federal level.

Budget considerations:

  1. Funds allocated in the budget shall be locked, reallocations must only be considered as a last resort and voted on through congress and approved by president.

  2. Program funds that are individually taxed from income such as Social Security and Medicare, shall not be reallocated under any circumstances.

  3. A required emergency fund established as part of the budget. Used for domestic natural disaster situations, and can only be allocated for use as such.

  4. A required federal savings for use when programs require additional funding not planned in the budget. Must maintain a minimum amount in savings carried over to following fiscal year.

  • Reallocations from savings must be voted on in congress and approved by president.
  • Funds within this account shall not be considered when creating the budget in the next fiscal year.)

As part of the suggested Department of Government Efficiency is should be their responsibility to audit the suggested budget once the budget has been voted on by congress prior to be submitted to the President for final approval.
