Minimizing Corporate Influence in Government

Corporations have long abused our political landscape for monetary gain, often at the expense of the people. Many are becoming aware that the policy reforms we are seeing are very much driven by who has the deepest pockets, and this usually comes in the form of a corporate donor. When money becomes more important than people, we as a nation lose sight of what matters, and we lose sight of the values that made us great. Our current system has our government performing for the wrong audience, and there is not much regulation in place to stop it. I think this is something we can improve on moving forward, and that the first step is recognizing corporate donations as a weapon of power - and that this should be taken just as seriously as that sounds. Because of the strong influence that this has on the future of our nation, there should be a deeper investigation into every large corporate donation - an investigation process that digs up the motive behind these donations and determines if it is malicious to We The People or not.
