Maternity leave should be no lesser than 12 months minimum, PAID. Paternity leave should be no lesser than 6 months minimum, PAID. Childcare is so hard to find and 6 weeks is nowhere near long enough to be home with our children after birth. Some mothers take longer than 6 weeks to even fully heal. Fathers dont get anytime at all with their babys. Current maternity and paternity leave is robbing us parents of more time with our children in one of the most crucial time frames of their life.

I wish I could supprt this. Nothing about PAID Parental leave is fair for all those who had children years past and based equality, for those who can not have children or are too old to have children. This privledge is already being abused by individuals. The issue isnt about the parents spending time with thier babies, its about being paid for not doing equal work as those who cant have children.
I see where you are coming from with this but what you are saying is unfair to those who cant is unfair to those who can. It is unfortunate for those who cannot but the ones who cannot should not have to adhere to the standards of those that cannot. Those who cannot have the ability to adopt a baby or young and it maternal & paternal leave should extend to those that adopt just as much as those that birth. This would be a better avenue for the “fair” you are looking for.
