Mandatory Paid Parental Leave Extension

I would like to see a policy where new mothers have extended time on paid parental leave for them and their newborns. In addition, I would also like to see an equal increase in parental leave for new fathers as well. I work in the warehouse industry and my company will only allow me a max of six weeks of parental leave to bond with my new child, when my partner & I decide to have our kid. I personally believe, that the time allotted is not sufficient. I would like to see up to 6 months, if not more time allotted for both parents to bond with their newborn. Leaving a new mother alone to take care of a newborn is a job in and of itself, and she will need support from the father.
