Federally Mandated Paid Parental Leave

One of the biggest issues facing our country today is the declining birth rate. Skyrocketing inflation, rising costs for basic necessities such as food, housing, childcare, and healthcare, are all huge contributors. In a society where having a dual income is necessary in order to survive, we need to reform the way we approach parental leave. Parental Leave

We should start a federal maternity/parental leave… leaving your baby at 6 weeks for daycare is so devastating and so wrong. Mom and dad aren’t even raising their babies, more time is necessary. In Europe, my best friend has 12 mo maternity leave and dad has 15 weeks. We should do better to raise better humans!!

Paid parental leave for 1 year. required by every job in america

Babies need their mothers especially during their first year of life. It is crucial for baby’s to develop properly being close with their mothers. Daycares are dangerous for babies. Mothers need time to heal much longer than 6 weeks. A baby is too young at 6 weeks or even 6 months to be pushed into a strangers arms when all they know and have known for 10 months is mom. Fathers also need to be present to support mom and baby so they can bond in the healthiest way and put that connection first.

Parental leave

Our country has fallen away from focusing on the family and our society, world, and culture have suffered for it. We are one of the only (if not the only) modernized nations to not provide consistent or strong parental and family leave. How can we provide a strong parental leave without it being a government regulation or mandate on employers? Explanation & Justification

All of these proposals are essentially asking for the same thing: a federally mandated parental leave. I believe #1 to be the most comprehensive.
