Require all companies to offer paid maternity and paternity leave atleast 6 weeks.
It is sad that taking a maternity leave to heal yourself from childbirth and to take care of a newborn puts you into debt and places such a financial burden on families that often times women have to return well before 6 weeks. Many companies don’t offer paid maternity leave and require employees to use short term disability if they even have that benefit and it doesn’t cover half of the expenses. Most people have to take unpaid leave and it’s further putting them in debt.
