Provide charter schools with facilities just like public schools. Lift all moratoriums on their ability to open and unrestrict their ability to open in suburbs. Assess them according to value-added metrics where one year of growth is considered a success. Have funding parity with their local public schools and require school funding to follow the child not be in a big pot for the district who doles it out. Make public Charter Schools competitive with regular public schools. Require charter school management organizations that take over 20% of public funds open to public audits. Ensure charter school boards have one publicly elected seat and one parent seat elected by the school community in addition to the 501c3 board. Allow charter schools access to the inside and outside millage collected by the public school levies.
Real competition will force our public schools to do their job of teaching our children instead of hubs of indoctrination.
