Our education is expensive and results or horrendous. We have too many students graduating from high school with no basic knowledge of math, science, history, life skills, and reading. To accomplish this we need to do the following:
We need to repeal the “No Child Left Behind Policies” and get rid of standardized testing. Schools no longer teach children the basic skills and knowledge needed to become successful individuals. They teach to get students to pass the test.
We need to pass a law that 80% of all school funding goes directly into the classroom for student’s education. School districts are too top heavy with administrators and not enough funds are allocated to the classrooms and students for their education. Teachers have the hardest job but get paid at poverty level. Teachers and parents have to pay for classroom supplies, because the districts don’t provide what is needed in our classrooms.
We need to go back to linear math. The “new math” intended to increase our children’s critical thinking has created an entire society of dumbed down adults who can’t even do basic multiplication or division.
We need to fully fund the IDEA. Our special needs children get left behind or abused. And when they fight back, they become criminals in the prison industrial system. All of this because we lack the proper funding and resources within the classrooms, make exception to class size by cutting teachers and increase class sizes, and deny appropriate educational resources directly to the students to help the succeed.
We need to give parents more power on how their children are educated, give teachers the basic resources they need to teach effectively, and give students the resources they need to succeed.
We need to eliminate the power or local school boards and the amount of administrator positions at the district level.
If we do not fix our education system, we will not have a society innovative and smart enough to take us into the future.
Get people on the boards that have been in teaching for several years. Not people that have never been in a classroom before. They have no idea what a teacher goes through daily trying to teach these children. Also they need the principal to back the teacher when she is having trouble with a child. In other words put spanking back in school!
By implementing these vital reforms, we can transform our education system into one that genuinely prepares students for the challenges of the future. Empowering teachers with adequate resources, prioritizing classroom funding, and fostering parental involvement will create a more supportive and effective learning environment. Shifting our focus back to essential skills and knowledge will not only enhance academic performance but also cultivate critical thinkers and engaged citizens. With a revitalized educational framework, we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed, leading to a more innovative and capable society that can thrive in an increasingly complex world. Together, we can build a brighter future for our children and our nation.
