Less Central Government and More States Rights

I believe the central government has too much power, in a country of over 300 millions people we allow policy to be made by around 500 people. I believe the central oversees too much, the state governments should have more power and influence on their own states. The central government should handle national and international issues but leave the states for the rest. The most important election should be the ones about your state not the presidential election. The overturning of Roe V Wade was a step in the right direction. Imagine how easier it would be to reach out to your state official with your concerns rather than the president who has 49 other mouths to feed. The state and local governments should get more funding and attention from the central government. Let the central gov deal with international relations, the roads, military, etc. 300 million people is way too many to oversee while countries like France have 68 million. To truly create a prosperous United States we need to be just that, a union of states with the ability their unique lives as states. I used to live in Maryland and now live in West Virginia. It’s astounding how socio economically different two states the border eachother are. Why should these two states be under the same governmental blanket?
