Ideas to reduce Healthcare costs

One reason healthcare is expensive is because all Doctors need to pass through a Residency program, but the budget for Residency (thus the total number of new doctors each year) is set by Congress. It’s an artificially limited supply. If we allow private organizations or individuals to also fund Residency programs, then the chokehold will be removed, we will get more doctors every year, and the increased supply will help lower the cost of healthcare.

We can also partner with a specific other nation with high medical standards, allowing anyone with a Medical degree from that nation to qualify to practice in the US, perhaps with a localization test to avoid any cultural mix-ups.

For other healthcare costs, if we make it illegal for hospitals to provide specific insurance companies with unique discounts and instead require that the price be the same across the board (with both insurance companies and uninsured people), then the insurance companies will go from demanding that prices be higher for everyone else (which they currently do to get a “discount” which uninsured people don’t have access to) and instead begin to demand that prices be lower.

And lastly, I suggest opening up the market so that you can purchase insurance from any state, fostering competition nationwide, and perhaps offer tax incentives for startup insurance companies to encourage new people to enter the market.
