In the richest country in the history of the world we should not have nearly 750,000 homeless people sleeping in cars or in the streets. In Nearly every city across the United States you can see homeless encampments under bridges and overpasses. This is a failure of public policy and capitalism. We need a system government wide approach to solving our homelessness problem. This policy should address:
- Case worker assignments for all homeless
- Medical and Mental health care and treatment
- Drug abuse treatment and therapy
- Skills/Job training programs for plumbing, electrical, construction, automotive and healthcare trades.
- Job placement programs
- Temporary housing for citizens in treatment and training
- Permanent housing for disabled and elderly citizens
