The Department of Veterans Affairs has failed too many of our nations heroes. Extremely long wait times, employees who don’t care and just a complete lack of efficiency is not what our veterans deserve. Community Care is a great program but even to get that, it must go through the VA and can take way too long.
Medicaid is already an established form of medical insurance that could be easily extended to veterans and their families and would give them options to find private health care. Veterans should be given the option to use Medicaid and find their own doctor in their own community instead of traveling to a VA clinic and competing with the 9 million other veterans who are enrolled in VA healthcare.
This will not only give our veterans the better care that they deserve, but it will also support local doctors as well. It will allow veterans to choose a different doctor or clinic when they are treated poorly instead of just enduring it because it’s the doctor they’ve been assigned as many do.
