While a few Veterans get adequate care at the VA many do not. I have been in the VA healthcare system since 1989 and it’s been a nightmare. My suggestion is to give Veterans the freedom to choose. That’s what we fought for. Many veterans live many miles away from a VA hospital. Many of those hospitals a poorly run. Why not issue us an insurance card paid for by the government that allows us access to healthcare in our community without prior VA approval. You practically have to ask the VA’s permission to have an emergency. The wait times are terrible. The doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class. The staff in some cases hate us. Veterans deserve better than the VA. Thanks
