I think the electoral college votes should represent their equivalent percentage by voter in each state, and should be divided accordingly.
For example: in a given state if 65% of the vote goes to one candidate and 35% goes to another, each candidate should receive their fair share of electoral votes for the state in question.
I need to learn more about the Electoral College, but the purpose (to my understanding) is not to give a one-for-one vote. What purpose would that serve? It is to even out the “voice” so that, for example, the Agricultural states (West) which have a smaller population have a voice also against the Eastern States which have larger populations. This is important because the Eastern States don’t have an understanding about agricultural issues and, historically, were making decisions that harmed agriculture.
The idea is that per capita votes weigh more when it comes to the final election. This means and each citizens vote weighs more when it comes to determining the candidate that receives the electoral votes. I hope this helps to clarify.
This isn’t necessarily about representation of any ideology, it’s more so an attempt to rebalance and distribute the peoples vote more accurately
So you believe the distribution you first stated would show a more accurate balance. Correct? My concern is that the electoral college stay in place so we, here in the West, don’t get our voices nullified.
