Get rid of property tax once the property is paid for in full

YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT WHAT’S CALLED “ALLODIAL TITLE” or “ORIGINAL TITLE” WHEN YOU BOUGHT THE PROPERTY!

IF YOU OWN THE ORIGINAL TITLE; YOU NEVER OWE PROPERTY TAX!

IT COSTS MORE TO BUY THE ORIGINAL TITLE; BUT IN THE LONG RUN IT SAVES YOU TONS OF MONEY; BECAUSE YOU NEVER HAVE TO PAY PROPERTY TAX AND YOU CAN GIVE IT TO YOUR RELATIVES WHEN YOU DIE AND THEY NEVER HAVE TO PAY PROPERTY TAX EITHER!

I think this is more at state level or even County level but I agree. Why am I paying real estate tax for my property that is paid off entirely. The county or state has nothing to do at my property. I pay state taxes already that should cover everything thats needed and car tax for roads.

In paying property tax, we never own our homes. If jobloss, sickness or other reason the tax cannot be paid, then our property is attached/fined or worse, repossessed.
I agree, no tax once paid in full.

Get rid of property tax.

If we go to a flat sales taxes on EVERYTHING for the federal government, say 4 percent and allow local governments to tack on an additional 4 to 6 percent and stop the income tax at all levels that COULD be a solution for the local and the federal needs. One time tax on property, cars, clothes, all goods and services.

In a sense, property taxes are sales taxes and I agree that when the property is paid off the taxes end. I also think, however, that property taxes need to adjust to your outstanding debt…property taxes can be calculated the same as interest, as a percentage of the loan. And, as with interest, the amount paid in taxes would decrease (not arbitrarily increase) until the taxes disappear.

a flat sales tax - you spend more, you pay more. What could be more fair.

The State/County are getting money to pay for schools, roads, etc… from other taxes that are hidden and embedded in other things we pay for like gas (for your car). Property taxes are theft and another excuse to fill these traitors’ pockets. When you buy a house, there should be NO property taxes AT ALL. Everything’s already paid for from your Cestui Que Vie trust incl. your “mortgage”! Mortgages are FRAUD. The banks are double dipping. When you get a mortgage, you’re paying your own money back with interest except they’re pocketing your money!

I energetically agree with this and talk it up a lot. As it stands now, you can pay off your mortgage a thousand times, but miss a tax payment and you come home to chains and padlocks… not yours anymore. Among the things that separate citizens from subjects, is the right to own private property… which we do not have if we’re simply paying for the “privilege” of calling ourselves property owners. We’re renting, is what it amounts to, paying rent to the govt. It’s really no different than if we had to buy our 1st amt or 2nd amt rights with monthly payments. It’s an outrage!

I believe the real issue is the many echelons of taxes. We pay Federal, State, County and Local township taxes in addition to a storm water tax, a personal tax, school taxes, tax on vehicle registrations, license renewals and utilities, etc. Paying “property tax” seems either redundant or perhaps just needs a better explanation or disclosure.

None, at all. Other countries do not have property tax, did you not that? They can take your home if you don’t pay it, that is the biggest issue. The government says we own it, pay up or lose it. NO PROPERTY TAX, PERIOD!

Sales tax.

Property taxes, in whatever form they are collected should be declared unconstitutional. I believe that the “takings clause” of the 5th Amendment of the Constitution forbids the taking of a citizen’s property without fair compensation.

If a taxing entity confiscates a citizen’s property, them the citizen should be paid fair market value for that property. As it stands when a property is auctioned for taxes any monies collect, above what is owed, must be returned to the citizen. I believe the person from whom the property was taken should receive full market value of the property.

No, this is wrong and there was a SCOTUS case, I believe. They used the 4th Amendment. No illegal search or SEIZURE. That is seizure. Even condo fees. In Massachusetts where I used to live and was a realtor, they could put a lien for condo fees but not foreclosure like in Florida. We are the only country that pays property taxes. DOGE proved that our politicians are stealing our money to make themselves filthy rich in million dollar homes and cars and private jets while we get the TSA. Sorry, no. If I buy something and pay tax, then I should not continue to be taxed, and if I sell it used, then the next buyer should not be taxed at all. By the way, another tax issue, inheritance tax. Should be gone.
