Do not require any additional tax payment on property that is properly owned. Once the mortgage is paid for in FULL on any sort of property, land, or home; and is owned by AMERICAN CITIZENS, we should not have to continue to pay the property tax.

Especially the seniors on social security, we hardly get enough to live on and that’s including our 401k. Do you know how many seniors lose their houses because of taxes?

After I paid off my mortgage, I am still paying property taxes every year. Your town’s county assessor typically comes every year to value your property, and then you have to pay taxes on it at the end of the year. I believe this should stop once your home and the property it stands on is paid for in full and legally belongs to you.

Property tax should not be based on the value of the property. If the tax is to support the county or state then we should each pay equally. Just because someone has a new expensive car doesn’t change the amount it cost for them to use our roads, etc… If a person lives in city limits they should not have to pay both city and county taxes. It should be one or the other.

We should never pay a tax on something we own. The bank owns the mortgage and if you don’t pay that, they can foreclose. The government still gets the right to foreclose if you don’t pay property taxes. That is wrong, because it means you are a renter. No property taxes ever.

You paid off your mortgage and now have less to pay, and that’s the reason you give for eliminating the property tax? Why was it not important before? The real issue, however, is that property taxes provide funding for our the community where we live…funding for schools, and hospitals, fire departments…. What is your proposal for taking care of these and other entities?

Agreed. People are losing houses in my area because taxes never stop rising on our properties. Then FEMA constantly wants more money, so my monthly payment (FEMA, mortgage, taxes etc are all part of the bill) keeps going up. Many folks in my area are abandoning their homes because they cannot afford it anymore.

Totally agree. They are pushing socialism by making some people pay more just because they did better in life financially. Here in Arizona, they do the same on a car. Plates are insanely high especially if you drive a new car. Makes no sense.

Seniors should not have to pay property taxes because these taxes are a major burden on top of paying medicare, supplement insurance and deductibles. The last administration impoverished a lot of the country with their policies and some of that weight needs to come off the consumer.

I like the idea but the revenue lost would have to be made up somehow. The system of assessing property taxes could use some overhaul. There must be a better way to get the funds for schools, roads, etc.
