Get off your ass and go to work

I agree with you. I would also add that we should make the penalties more harsh for employers who decide to hire illegal aliens or foreign workers who do not at least have a work permit. Moreover, there should be a tax/penalty imposed on companies/employers who hire foreign workers and it is later found that there was an American citizen in their area/region with the skillset and knowledge they were looking for. In other words, employers who use foreigners and illegals to undercut the wages and salaries of American workers should be punished very harshly.

I just submitted my proposal for mental health (to include drug addiction) earlier today. I forgot to mention a couple of things when I submitted my idea so I need to find the thread and edit it. I suggest you take a look at those ideas (not just my idea/proposal). These two subjects are in fact closely related as many have realized.

I believe a while back trump had announced to receive benefits they want to make it a minimum of 20 hours of work per week to continue receiving those benefits. Hopefully it’s something he still plans on enforcing.

I’m going to re-read everyone’s ideas and edit my original suggestion once I have more time to be more detailed.

Keep them coming- this is what it’s about- the people putting their heads together for solutions

What are the costs associated with managing this program, including ongoing psychological counseling and medical input? It seems likely that these expenses could exceed the cost of meaningful entitlement reforms. This doesn’t appear to address the root issue but rather seems to serve as a form of fear-mongering.

Well-
The cost would be an investment
Places we could find the money…,
How about the 350 billion we sent Ukraine…
or the billions the pentagon keeps loosing track of
How much did we give the illegals in two years…

My point- it appears we have plenty of mis managed and stolen money that we could utilize.

Government Spending on Entitlement Programs vs. Aid to Ukraine

  1. Entitlement Programs:
  • Entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid accounted for $2.7 trillion in FY2023, which is about 60% of the federal budget.
  • These programs directly benefit millions of Americans, providing critical income, healthcare, and support.
  1. Aid to Ukraine:
  • As of early 2024, the U.S. has provided about $113.4 billion to Ukraine in military, economic, and humanitarian aid.
  • While significant, this is a fraction of what is spent annually on entitlement programs.

I think we spend plenty on us citizens vs ukraine

I think we should be sending money on us citizens… its our money and not Ukraine
Or anyone else

However my
Plan would be having people that are receiving benefits being required to volunteer their time in something that interests them

Not sure where you are getting spending more money from. and this policy suggestion would hopefully move people off the system by giving them exposure and skills so they can get a job
And start taking care of them selves

It would require money to govern your plan, i don’t have a issue with it, just don’t understand how spending more fixes anything.

Not sure what your seeing that I’m not with spending more money
Volunteering means not being paid

simply that it will cost money to create, manage, and maintain the program you are proposing. Effectively this increases the cost of these ā€œvolunteersā€ benefits, and therefore reduces the effectiveness of the plan.

It is very easy to lie about these things. That is why we have lifers on government assistance, or should I say government lifetime dependence.

I’m sure there are excess people in certain departments that could be utilized

That’s why we need to remedy the current situation and try something different to get them on

Because it’s unacceptable to be on assistance for ever

Trump had work requirement for Medicaid. It should be reinstated. Anyone who is able to work should have to do something for the benefit of food, housing and healthcare. Letting illegals use Medicare and Medicaid costs money and overloads our hospitals and clinics. It has resulting in increased housing prices as demand skyrockets. You need to make working the incentive to receive the benefits.

Isn’t providing pay stubs and therefore proof of taxes paid toward said service a form of contribution? If I’m paying for a service, that should qualify me for that service-based on my income, and dependant household members.

Otherwise, if additional requirements are going to be added, people not engaged in forms of welfare should be able to opt out of funding it.

I’m not going to do an additional layer of work, on top of already paying into a service I don’t get to be a part of. Requiring more from those who are using the system correctly will only hurt those who it is intended to help.

Personally, a welfare system based upon a system of fiat deficit spending is doomed to end in high inflation and the continuation of the destruction of the standard of living.

Food stamps? Why not a program that helps people produce their own food rather than purchase it from others. Disabled and can’t grow food? Subsidies to companies that can produce and research easier ways to produce for any group.

Don’t ask more from people, promote a culture of production and work ethic by promoting equal opportunities for business.

If Congress continues to support conglomerates over local business, everyone will be forced onto welfare or minimum wages upkept by legislative corporate increases.

Consumerism, corporate expansionism, and lack of business opportunity/competition is what is limiting American work ethic.

Well, technically none of what you outlined address any of those 3 points

My policy suggestion is god those who are able bodied persons who are not working at all and continue to be on the system.

The fiat currency is not a currency- it is a debt note and a credit system with not cap in which our politicians seem to thrill they can continuously borrow and downs fir things we don’t need and in all cases launder it back to themselves…
I’m sure we could cut quite a lot of spending if that was reformed and having a constitutional national currency backed on gold ( which trump will be doing )

You are already paying for services that you are not receiving… like health care for illegals and children you don’t have
In NY people are paying property taxes that are suppose to go to the schools even if you don’t have children and most likely this money is being laundered because alot of our schools here in certain places are crap and the kids are continually getting dumber and sicker.

Instead of saying what’s wrong
How about be part of the remedy
By suggesting what we could do.

I suggest giving people an opportunity to volunteer and learn skills whether for basic living, something that interests them or a talent they already possess that they can hone and develop confidence in teaching etc;

Future remedy

I believe the school system MUST reform- these kids need to learn useful things and not learn long division to do simple math

A farm program -which would double as producing healthy food for the schools

Home Economics

Child rearing

Shop

Mechanics

Ect

This would hopefully prevent where ppl are today from happening in the future
