Get off your ass and go to work

I would suggest drug tests for assistance. If you are on welfare, you must test clean to receive benefits.

Yes! There are lots of people who collect assistance for kids they don’t care for. Kids whom are cared for by family/friends who work and don’t collect assistance themselves. This allows these ā€œparentsā€ to keep collecting fraudulently and spending the assistance on drugs. Many people sell their food-stamps as well.

While many of us contributing citizens work and still struggle, but do not qualify for any type of assistance. It’s very frustrating!

I am 100% onboard with this. Illegals who are getting ā€œfreeā€ room and board should be picking up trash alongside the highways. This is not meant to be cruel , this is something I would be willing to do myself for the generosity of public provided free food and a free roof over my head.

People who are receiving food stamps receive LESS THAN $300 A MONTH!!! A single person receives about $280? Maximum? And if they have children they might receive more, to FEED THEIR CHILDREN. How about people who have no clue what they’re talking about mind their own business. And some of these people DO HAVE JOBS, they are just making under the federal limit which ALLOWS THEM EXTRA HELP SO THEY DONT STARVE. Some of the people on food stamps HAVE DISABILITIES that won’t allow them to work. If you want to be mad at someone be mad at yourself for being so uneducated you think people receiving assistance are lazy!
The energy this post is giving the same as the Mormon people in Utah complaining about warming centers in their town when it’s below 18* outside.

I’m proposing exactly what I wrote

Able bodied people…
Those that are able to work -

Are you against able bodied people being able to give back?
To learn skills -
And try or do things of their choosing?
Are you against letting people feel valued ?

Not sure where all the anger is coming from.

This is a site to propose ideas and policies.

This proposal is about getting people up and out doing something instead of just being reliant and learning not to just receive from the government.

Those that have children -
They would have to be stay at home moms - obviously
Where’s the dad?
Perhaps stronger penalties for dead beat dads need to be added to this proposal

This IS about wellness, well being and education through job experience

either locally in your own area town or in NY they have what’s called a scat bus- which is low cost transportation
I propose the fee for rides- which is very minimal- be waved for those who are part of my proposal program

I’m not talking just food stamps -
There are people receiving health insurance housing as well

Great idea although quarterly drug tests should be included. Also, term limits should be set.

Or Atleast goals

I am not angry or agents what you proposed, I just saying there’s not enough information to make a clear decision, like what I pointed out, you didn’t address those, I am all for younger people, getting out and working, learn a good trade, to support themselves or a family, I don’t feel it’s right that people, that can work choose not to because they get free everything, I started working at 12 yrs old, I never stopped from that age, until I became disabled, at about 55, or so, but I just feel your needed some more information, your off to s good start.

There are already policies in place for this. If you’re able bodied, not working, not going to school, and not a primary caregiver to your kids, then you only have a very limited time to receive benefits before they stop.

Do you have that information so we can see it, or a link to it

I see your point, however people who are laid off or fired are able bodied and they do apply for benefits. I think under JoeBama all you have to do is breathe and be an illegal or viewed as a perfect DEI person and you qualify. Lots of waste with those who know how to work the system.

Agreed- Those scenarios would have to be looked at and specifically addressed

Ah…understood. My reference was regarding disabled persons, not those who simply lost their jobs for a period of time. Under those conditions, many of these suggestions might be applied. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Just deleted my post (might be misleading at this point) and gave Katherine a ā€˜Thumbs Up’

This has been attempted in many areas and it was found to not be economical. So few recipients were found to be
Taking drugs that it did not offset the expense of the drug testing. And drug testing is expensive.

This is alreday in place in Ohio. Im a single mom woring and still forced to apply for EBT to afford groceries. I get 25.00 per month. They only give you EBT if you work and if youn don’t work, they make you volunteer, just like you stated. Not all states require this but Ohio does already!

What would you suggest as changes to your policy there?

Does your community have a garden ?
