Forest Management CCC (Civilian Conservation Core)
Purpose: US Forestry Management
Secondary: education, life purpose, improved health outcomes, national cohesion, crime reduction, improved forest health (fire reduction, fire simulation, safer forests, reduced fire pollution, etc.)
Outline: Given that our Forestry policies are reactive (fires occur, send in the fire fighters and hope for the best), and given that forestry management requires proactive policies: provide a CCC format to recruit inner City youth/young adults to perform forestry management for periods of 12, 18, or 24 months. Live in forestry camps, Provide onsite classroom instruction in basic education, e g. cooking/meal prep, nutrition, basic math, personal hygiene, basic physics, civics, history, etc. Provide employment in clearing forests, establishing firebreaks, and other duties as required for forest management excellence. Once term is complete, provide a “GI Bill-like” benefits for continuing education, in the trades or college.
Duration: Forest management is a perpetual task and this CCC program will last many years, providing meaningful work, training and educational opportunities.
Personal benefits: work ethic improvements, lifelong direction, education in forest management, and basic principles, followed by advanced education opportunities, network cohesion, lifelong friends, etc.
National benefits: improved forest management, educated citizenry, forest management and civil welfare cost reductions.
