For far too long there have been saw mills closing, jobs being lost and families loosing stable income due to the government shutting down responsible and proper forest management. Because of this, there are an incredible amount of trees falling due to beetle kill in places like Montana, the wildlife suffers from tye lack of logging as well since all the trees block ways of travel. The forest fires get worse every year, which hurts wildlife and the citizens due to the amount of smoke. We need to let logging companies come in, clear out forests responsibly, replant new growth, and allow the wildlife to thrive.

I like Japan’s initiative a whole lot more. I think it’s okay to clear American underbrush to prevent fires. However for lumber, we should copy Japan’s model where we have tree farms for lumber. You cut one section and grow more in another and rotate between areas every certain amount of years. This protects forests and provides for our lumber industry. I also believe we should find trees that are easy and fast to grow and use that as a source for cheap lumber.
