Our forests have been mismanaged for decades leading to the buildup of brush and debris that fuels forest fires and the climate change narrative. We need to bring back smart forest management policies that include controlled burns and forest cleanup initiatives. This should include logging, thinning and controlled burns to reduce vegetation and promote healthy tree growth. There are many organizations in existence that could provide the human resources necessary to implement new policies. One in particular is the Boy Scouts of America which already has conservation policies and practices in place to manage forests. You may even be able to get citizens to work together to this end creating opportunities for families and communities to work in forests clearing dead limbs, trees and brush. The Boy Scouts have successfully done this for years at Philmont in New Mexico. I personally have participated in forest conservation efforts at Philmont and would welcome the opportunity to do it again.

That’s state level stuff, but this was done in California before. When Arnold Schwarzenegger was Governor, he did the proper forest management reform. That’s why there weren’t forest fires when he was in office. Unfortunately, Jerry Brown got rid of that reform and Gavin Newsom kept it as Brown had it.
This needs to be a central compenent of the next Governor election there.

Do we not have national forests that are managed by the US Forest Service? If they have delegated the forest management policies for National Forests to the states, that needs to be reversed as well.
