I think we should ban all taxes except 3 very simple flat tax rates. One for Federal, one for state and one for county. I don’t know the exact percentages it should be, but obviously nothing too high. Maybe 5% federal, 3% state and 2% county. Then it should be added as an amendment to the constitution so it can NEVER be changed. So there would be no issue of raising taxes or lowering them. The government would just have to learn to budget with what they get.
This would mean there would be no more property taxes, no more sales tax, etc. As far as corporate tax, I’m not sure… Maybe there should still be a corporate tax but much lower, like maybe 10%. And some sort of tax break for businesses that make their products in the US, so their corporate tax would be even lower.
ALSO, I think our taxes shouldn’t come out of our paychecks, but instead we pay our taxes directly. I’m not sure exactly what this would look like or be like, but maybe every quarter, or every 6 months we have to pay our taxes directly either on a website or even in person somehow. That way the government can’t just reach their hands in our paychecks/bank accounts and take the money AND it would open everyone’s eyes to how much of their money is actually going towards taxes and would make people more proactive in caring about their communities and what their tax money is going to.
There should also be some sort of tax break/incentives for families. Maybe for every kid you have you get a certain amount of a tax break.
