When I was in So Cal about 5 years ago I did a quick study on homelessness. The county of LA spends $40k a year to get 1 person off the streets, the missions on skid row could do it for $5k. Plus the bring in doctors, dentist, hair stylist, financial tutors, job training, understand security issues and can monitor the facility. Convert empty industrial buildings so they are not around kids, strip malls, parks or schools. Then once in place cities can pass laws that make it illegal to sleep on the streets. I would encourage cities, counties and state to partner with non-profits to have a meaningful impact on homelessness for less money than we are now spending. Thanks for reading and your vote.
