Restore gun rights for all non violent felons after completing their sentences. Felons should have the right to protect themselves just as any other person. Felons should also be able the hunt and provide for their families just as any other person.

I believe this was in the works, we spoke with an attorney about four months ago and he informed us that with a year, we should see this come to fruition. We agree that a non-violent “criminal” should be able to reinstate their right to own a firearm just as you re-instate your right to vote.

This is wonderful news! As my husband and i are nonviolent felons, mine DWIs and his revoked license, we deserve the right to defend ourselves and our property. What kind of lawyer was it you spoke with? Why did they feel confident there would be change? Thanks

EVERYONE has the right to defend themselves. laws that restrict felons from the ability to do so are unconstitutional. If you going to restrict that, then just keep them locked up, if you think they will become a danger to society

I agree with this as long as it only applies to people who commited felonies that were non-violent and also no drugs-related.

We are talking about automatic restoration of rights. That’s why I think it should only apply to non-violent and no drug-related felons. We currently have ways to get pardon and restoration of gun rights for felons.

Upon completion of parole ALL gun right should be restored. If a person is too dangerous to possess a firearm then they are too dangerous to live in society

If the felon was convicted with a “violent” crime, following the law is probably not a concern for them. If every adult in this country concealed carried, there really wouldn’t be any crime. I mean think about it, how many bank robbers are going to walk into a bank filled with armed citizens? How many mass shooters are going to walk into a crowd surrounded by people with guns? and if they did, how many shots do you think they could take before someone neutralized the situation.
MORE GUNS= LESS CRIME
Children should be taught gun safety, how to correctly use and respect a fire arm. Most accidental shootings are because a child was “playing” with a gun. They should be thought early that guns are not toys they are tools.
Look at kids who hunt for example- they know how to safely use their guns and they have far less accidents than kids who have never handled one.
Owning a gun should be as normal as ownig a car.
