Federal investment in non-patentable medical treatments

During the COVID pandemic, a primary course of treatment was the use of ventilators which for many yielded poor outcomes. Alternative treatments like ECMO and ozone therapy may have provided better results, but as with anything need the benefit of sufficient testing in order to mitigate associated risks.

This policy proposes the federal government provide the same level of investment into alternative treatments as they do with for-profit patent related products.

An additional resource would be to streamline the process of eliminating liability for doctors associated with treatments that are under study, for patients that want to proceed in a different direction by choice, with informed consent.

I agree. However, those doing the studies into these treatments needs to be scientists, doctors, and others who understand them. Many of the so-called studies on alternative treatments have been sham studies made up only to discourage people from trying them. It needs to be true science.
