In light of ongoing concerns about representation in Congress, I propose a discussion on changing the redistricting timeframe from every 10 years to either 7 or 5 years. This shift would allow for more responsive governance, reflecting the rapid changes in our population and demographics.
Additionally, I suggest starting with an expansion of the House from its current 435 members to 693 members. This initial increase would significantly reduce the average number of constituents per representative, allowing for deeper community engagement and more tailored advocacy for the unique needs of diverse populations
Thank you for your support in our efforts to expand representation and strengthen our democracy. Your commitment is invaluable.
What do you think about adding 150 seats to the House every five or seven years?
I think doubling the House numbers in one fell swoop would be my suggestion along with extending their terms to three years.
If we did that the extended terms might give them time to review some of the bills along with giving them a year without having to campaign
I can live with expanding House members’ terms, especially since the House Modernization Committee has been discussing this. I agree elections should be staggered to maintain continuity. What do you think would be the best ratio to use for expanding the House of Representatives to ensure fair and manageable representation?
I was thinking that to have them all up for reelection might make it more difficult for concentrated interest to get organized, Kind of overwhelming them with numbers
I have a vision for a government that truly represents individual voices like mine. While I understand the concerns about concentrated interests, my priority is ensuring that every citizen is heard. We need to focus on fair representation, not be held back by fears of organized influence.
