After working to end the Overdose crisis in NJ for the past few years, I have realized that no one in charge of Opioid Settlement Funds or creating legislation has lived experience and that is why the Overdose crisis continues to destroy communities across the nation. The people who have survived this crisis have the solutions but we continue to disregard their advice because the stigma is ingrained in the fabric of our society.
Not only do I have lived experience but have been researching Substance Use Disorder for the past four years and can 100% say we are not treating addiction correctly.
The White House Drug Policy Director shouldn’t be a doctor but someone who has been to treatment and sober living and understands the landscape of this crisis.
I have written a step by step plan to drastically lower Overdose rates across the US in two years. While I love the idea of Wellness Farms, there is another thing we could implement that would save lives and help people recover.
