Election Identification

I propose we remove the political affiliation designations—(R), (D), (I)—from candidates’ names on ballots. This change would encourage voters who typically choose candidates based solely on party identification to engage more critically with each candidate’s policies. Our political system has been dominated by two parties for so long that many people feel as though there are no alternatives. By removing party labels, we can give voters a greater opportunity to consider real change, which is something this country truly needs. How much worse could it be?
