Childcare is outrageously expensive. It is by far The number one expense in our household with two children under the age of five. We pay $36,000 a year in childcare. We have decent paying jobs, but this kills our family financially to be able to afford other things. We would love to have another child, but we cannot afford to put three kids in childcare. A $3500 tax credit that only applies to certain people is not enough and is not doing justice. Oh wow for a more substantial tax credit that is actually in line with the expense or cap the expense. Also daycare workers are not paid hardly anything. Education starting at a young age is the foundation of our society, but yet it is extremely expensive for families to put their children in those educational programs and daycare. And the staff within those educational programs are extremely underpaid so how can we expect the best for our children when we can’t even pay them adequately for their services.
