Crossing state lines with weapons

the state of Massachusetts will make you a felon if you decide to drive from RI to MA with a weapon in safe storage.
Currently there are 100+ incarcerated individuals in MA state prisons serving mandatory minimums of 18 months for driving over the state line with a legally registered gun in their name.

How is this constitutional?

These are law abiding citizens that aren’t clear on the very confusing gun laws in MA.

If you are a legal and registered gun owner in RI or any state, you should be able to cross state lines without the fear of becoming a felon.

I know two people personally in jail, one ex military that served 8 years in Iraq that was pulled over and charged.
