Hi!
I have an autoimmune disease (Hashimotos) which makes it incredibly difficult for me to maintain my weight. I have to work 10x harder than most people to maintain a healthy weight because my BMR has decreased as a result of my diagnosis. I am a highly active individual, and when my autoimmune disease was rampant, despite decreasing my calories significantly, running and weightlifting 4-5x a week, I could not shed any weight.
A powerful tool that’s allowed me, as well as many others struggling with a variety of metabolic diseases, is compounded Semaglutide.
Millions of Americans struggle with metabolic disease. And don’t get me wrong, that needs to be addressed. But the fact is, that’s not going to change overnight. It took years to get to where we are now and even with RFK leading us out, it’s going to take years to fix this mess. I didn’t choose to have an autoimmune disease. I eat VERY healthy, I work out regularly, I stay away from environmental toxins (hell we even have a reverse osmosis filter), avoid most pharmaceutical meds (except levothyroxine because I will literally curl up in a ball and die without it). Compounded semaglutide is simply a tool that I have used to make my life and this disease I was diagnosed with at 24 years old a tiny bit easier.
Millions of Americans struggle with weightloss, and compounded semaglutide is game changing for that. By decreasing access via banning compounding pharmacies from being able to manufacture it, this administration is singlehandedly causing the worsening of these and related health problems and also lining the pockets of greedy pharmaceutical companies. This is evidenced by the way junk food and fast food sales have been declining as semaglutide has been rising in popularity. Not to mention, it hurts small businesses (physicians not working for corporations as well as small compounding pharmacies trying to compete with the big ones).
Studies show that semaglutide doesn’t just impact weightloss- it also impacts inflammation by helping to heal it which is important for someone with an autoimmune disease like me. As much as I try to decrease my toxin/environmental/food/etc risks, there is a limit to what I can do, and medications like semaglutide seem to dramatically decrease bloating and inflammation. My skin is clearer, etc.
Compounded semaglutide has saved my life, and I, as well as thousands of others, feel as though this is complete government over reach and gives way too much control to the powers that be and the pharmaceutical lobbyist groups. The risks drastically outweigh side effects in most people, and if it’s used correctly. So sad to see that after everything RFK hasn’t done anything about this yet.
