Mandate that insurance companies cover GLP-1 medications and programs for weight loss

The number one health problem in America is obesity. Obesity leads to heart disease, strokes, hormonal diseases, etc and is a huge factor in infertility in women, mental health issues, etc. Many doctors will write prescriptions for GLP-1 drugs but insurance will not cover them unless you are diagnosed with diabetes. Guess how diabetes can be prevented? Weight loss. Guess how weight loss can be achieved? GLP-1s. If weight loss was so easy why is American obese? They are price gouging drugs that are contributed with high levels of successful weight loss. We should make this drug as affordable and as obtainable as Tylenol! Make America HEALTHY again and at a normal weight!! Thanks for taking the time to read my idea. :us:

I also have concerns about this as I read today that RFK, Jr. is apparently against and wants to stop use of Ozempic type medications?? I hope that is incorrect. The issue is that after having been a consumer of this terrible US food supply chain for 50+ years, metabolic health is now irreversibly damaged and these medications are what we have to help us deal with the damage and consequences of these chemicals in our foods so that we can get back to improved health. I hate that I will be on a GLP1 likely for the rest of my life, but I am also so very grateful that there is a medication that can help. Our efforts need to be in cleaning up the food supply chain of these damaging ingredients so that the generations that follow do not suffer the same outcomes, but for those of us for whom it is already too late, please leave these medications alone - and even help make them more affordable and accessible.

This is probably why RFK wants GLP1 banned. It probably shouldn’t be on the market.
