Congress Health Care either Medicare or VA

All members of Congress and their staff and families should have a health care choice of either Medicare or Veterans Assistance. Their choice between the two, no age or service requirements.

There should not be a separate private health care option for members of Congress. By fixing this, Congress will have a personal vested interest in improving Medicare and the Veterans Assistance (VA) programs. After all, Congress and their staff are paid by our public dollars, so we might as well use our public dollars to contribute to the public health care system. As a result, I believe that Medicare and VA would significantly improve for all members of their health systems.

I’m not sure I agree with this. I do not think I want powerful Congress people and their families clogging up the VA health care system. A system already straining to meet the needs of veterans. I see potential for politicians to become the “preferred patient”, potentially pushing veterans out of their own health care system. Don’t forget, Congress has the power to change VA policies, and changing them to suit their own needs at the expense of veterans is a real possibility.
