Cognitive Testing for All Members of Congress

I recommend that in addition to the Presidency, all elected members of Congress in the House and the Senate, should undergo annual cognitive testing. After all, they are representing the citizens of the Republic and should have exceptional mental clarity to fulfill their duties as elected.

Cognitive testing should also be able to determine any psychological impairments or mental instability resulting from self-induced opioid or similar mind-altering drugs or through excessive alcoholic influences.

Action to be determined and resolved quickly through bipartisan leadership.

Add drug testing. We don’t need a Bill Gates in office so add a psychological profile.

I agree, and would add that leaders in ALL 3 branches of government (to include Supreme Court Justices), should undergo not only cognitive testing annually, but a civics test as well, such as required of new U.S. Citizens.

All too often I hear members of Congress and especially in the outgoing Administration, refer to our government as a ‘democracy’. We are a Constitutional Republic, or a Democratic Republic, NOT a Democracy. If these public servants do not understand we are a Republic, how can they make proper executive, legislative or judicial decisions for the citizens?!

How about an annual mission statement from each congressman, posted on the US web site that addresses specific topics. So we can get an idea what our congressman are prepared to do to help us in the coming year.

Alice, That’s an excellent idea. In fact, you should open up a new suggested Policy including perhaps a quarterly Statement/Progress Report for their constituencies, as they are the paying customers… Just my thoughts…Thanks
