US land should be considered a national treasury as such it should include not only the Chinese not owning farmland but any non-US citizen and all foods should be prioritized to be sent to the US and US people and further to help those that are in the lower bracket in the US, such as people who are homeless, have mental illness,. I think also, they should regenerative farming practices.

I had no idea until the last couple years this was even legal anyway. i just assumed it was already illegal. This should absolutely be illegal for ANY foreign entity to own US land or properties.

Policy for Protecting U.S. Land Ownership, Supporting Affordable Housing, and Ensuring Safe and Sustainable Farming Practices

1. Restriction on Foreign Ownership of U.S. Land and Property:
Enact federal legislation that prohibits all foreign entities and non-citizens from purchasing or owning U.S. land and property, including both agricultural and residential real estate. Any land currently held by foreign entities will be subject to reacquisition through state-administered eminent domain, with compensation provided at the original purchase price or current market value (whichever is less). This measure will secure U.S. land ownership for citizens and prevent foreign influence over essential resources.

2. Limitation on Corporate Ownership of Residential Properties:
Introduce regulations that limit the percentage of residential properties within any given area that can be owned by corporations. These limitations aim to prevent housing price inflation driven by large-scale corporate purchases, ensuring local residents have fair access to affordable homeownership. Corporations must divest any properties exceeding these limits within a designated transition period, making these properties available for individual buyers.

3. Support for Farmer Ownership and Operations:
Implement policies that protect U.S. farmers’ rights to own, operate, and profit from their land without unnecessary restrictions. Farmers will have the freedom to engage in sustainable farming practices and produce goods without fear of penalties or restrictions that limit output or create artificial shortages. State and federal governments will be prohibited from requiring specific agricultural practices that could harm food quality or restrict farmers’ ability to independently manage their farms.

4. Preservation of Self-Sufficiency and Agricultural Freedom:
Establish a right for all landowners to use their land for self-sufficiency purposes, including small-scale farming and gardening, free from zoning restrictions or prohibitive permits. This right ensures that families and communities can produce their own food, enhance local food security, and reduce reliance on external sources.

5. Ban on Mandatory Use of Vaccines, Chemicals, and Growth Hormones in Food Production:
Prohibit any government agency or entity from requiring farmers to use vaccines, chemical pesticides, or growth hormones in food production. Farmers will have the freedom to choose natural, healthy methods for cultivating crops and raising livestock. This policy supports food safety, improves consumer choice, and promotes a healthier food supply for U.S. residents.

6. Incentives for Sustainable and Chemical-Free Agriculture:
Provide financial incentives and subsidies for farmers who adopt sustainable practices that do not rely on artificial growth hormones, excessive pesticides, or other chemicals. Incentives may include tax reductions, grants, or access to low-interest loans for farmers who commit to organic and chemical-free practices, encouraging a robust and healthy food supply.

7. Legalization of Raw Milk and Direct Farm Sales:
Legalize the sale of raw milk and other direct-from-farm products, allowing consumers greater access to fresh, natural products. Remove restrictions that limit the sale of raw milk, raw cheeses, and other farm-produced goods directly to consumers, with appropriate labeling to allow for informed choices. This policy fosters a stronger relationship between farmers and consumers, empowers individual choice, and promotes local economies.

8. Coordination and Oversight:
Establish a federal and state-level task force to ensure that these policies are implemented consistently and fairly across the nation. This task force will work with states to ensure clarity, prevent conflicting strategies, and uphold the rights of U.S. citizens and farmers. The task force will also provide guidance and support to states for transitioning foreign-owned properties back into U.S. ownership, ensuring streamlined and transparent processes.

And anyone interested in buying the farmland must never have anything to do with China or any other foreign country.

America is being sold out from underneath the citizens. These foreign countries are taking America by storm through their purchases of land. This should also include buildings and companies.

I’m for it! Grant US citizens the purchasing power before Chinese nationals every time.

Non-citizens should not own any business in the USA that impacts our health, safety, or politics.

Agree - can the OP @LJM68 please revise this one to reflect foreign ownership of US farmland?

I fully agree with this proposition and would go further (as others have said) and deny ownership of any land within the USA to be owned by any person that is not a citizen of the United States, or an corporation that is not majority owned by a citizen(s) of the United States.

Agree! Only US citizens should be able to own land. Foreign individuals can lease, and foreign corporations who lease are subject to higher tax rates and yearly audits.

I fully agree. No foreign country should own American land period!

Sovereign countries approved by Senate and defense Department should be restricted to owning land in America. What percentage and vetting should be judged on their contribution to rebuilding america.

any corporation purchasing american land must not have more than 49% of investors combined and all together that are not US citizens. The corporation must have all its Board/CEO be US citizens

Agreed, but I do think there should be an allowance for personal properties (small plots). For example, if I could afford a beach front lot in Costa Rica and they would sell it, it would be nice to be secure in said purchase.

Not only China! We have citizens within (Bill Gates) buying up farmland too. If someone buys up like then they must have a positive plan for that land. Not to control our food source.

While I agree foreign entities (governments or corporations) should be banned from owning farmland I believe foreign-born individuals who have achieved legal-resident status (green cards) in the USA should be allowed the privilege of land ownership.

It would be much more difficult - and perhaps illegal - to try to prevent foreign ownership of businesses or commercial property.

Yes, it should be reversed immediately… also I propose for anyone buying land, property in the US, should have an immigration status.

I agree it makes sense to limit land ownership to citizens, unless someone can provide a valid reason any foreign entity should be able to buy US land. There would need to be measures and checks to ensure a foreign entity is not hiding behind a llc or other corporation or other method to acquire the land secretly.
