Chinese ownership of US farmland

I agree. Put a cap either by quantity or dollar amount that groups like black rock can own. Too much power in thier hands clearly is dangerous.

My wife is Indonesian. She of course can own land, BUT as her Husband I can NOT own any land. ---- HAHAHAHA. I can sure as hell pay for her land, they do take my money, but NO land is in MY name even as a Co-Owner. Here, in USA, as a spouse, she is on the property we own.

If this policy resonates with you I think ours will too. Thereā€™s a massive transfer of wealth from US businesses to Chinese businesses that is a new phenomenon enabled by the internet and online marketplaces. Please Please check out our proposal and vote!

Iā€™m not a fan of this because it sounds like I wouldnā€™t be permitted to own property for more than just want I need to live on and have a small garden. How do you define what is high value? That can change overtime based on numerous factors. One day itā€™s oil, one day itā€™s quartz, or granite, etc. One day they need it for solar fields or they want to build a bunch of houses on it. Existing farmers are great, but there are other reasons to have property. Thereā€™s the basic recreation aspect and needing trees for oxygen, but then thereā€™s hunting, or planning for your family to be able to acquire part of your property as they grow, get married, and start families of their own. Generational property would be wonderful. If I could afford it, Iā€™d own 100 acres all to myself, my children, and my childrenā€™s children.

I do agree that foreign entities, specifically businesses, should not own land here. If they do, it should fall under heavy scrutiny and investigation for the use and purpose.

The title might be better, ā€˜Foreign ownership of US farmlandā€™ so they donā€™t just use a proxy buyer.

Limitations on corporate ownership are important as well, especially since corporations can have foreign ownership.

I agree with the beginning premise, but disagree with using the land for solar panels or wind farms. Both solar panels and windmills requires a large amount of rare minerals, many that are dominated by Chinese owned companies and use child labor and even the adults are not paid well. Both are also harmful to wildlife.

I think the idea is generally good but needs work. We donā€™t need to use up more land for inconsistent solar farms filled with Chinese panels and technology.

I would also add not allowed by foreign nations/ corporations/ investments, ownership of property due to 3rd party relations/interests,also.

I donā€™t think we should just limit this to China, no country should be allowed to own any part of the United States. No country and no citizens of another country should be able to own any real estate in the United States at all. Investment firms and companies must be us-based and must not use any foreign money any foreign investments to buy property with and no foreign investor in those companies should benefit from any property in the United States. Not only with this free up our farmland again for US citizens and US companies but it would also lower the cost of housing because American citizens wouldnā€™t be bidding for a home against a foreign country.

I own 27 acres are you going to heavily tax me on it I guess I must be a bad actor because I donā€™t have crops growing on it, I use it for grazing. Be careful what you wish for with RFK Iā€™m a big Trump supporter but I am not happy about him putting RFK in there that man is going to do a lot of damage to Farmers, his environmental policies will be a nightmare and it will take more farmland out of production

Can we make sure the language says ā€œany interested party EXCEPT Bill Gates?ā€

And they are required to show ID!

There are no perfect candidates.
I like RFKjr on a lot of topics, and I donā€™t disagree with all his environmental policies. There are definitely things in there that weā€™ll need to shepherd carefully. Small farmer, so I getcha.

Butā€¦ bottom line isnā€™t ā€œis he perfect?ā€ Itā€™s ā€œis he better than what we have now?ā€
I think he can do a LOT of good, but NOBODY gets a pass on everything. We may have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for significant correction, but it will have to be tended every day.

Under your example, they open a business and they base it in the United States.

Also would require any company (like Gates Foundation or its many smaller companies), that purchased all that land (zoned as Ag land) must grow produce or used for cattle / chicken / pig from a healthy list of fruits/vegetables (not unhealthy like soybean and gmo corn etc) and plant at minimum annually using at least 50% of the crop land, or after three years of no production the land must be sold off to other interested parties that will commit to produce and sell their products in the US and acquire at the going price per acre. Essentially should be a requirement if you acquire farmland in the US zoned as such, you or your company should be producing something with it, not buying it up and shutting down the land so you can sell your lab created garbage eliminating the competition.

Americaā€™s land should be reserved for Americans. Period end of story.

It is a national security issue to allow any foreign Nation, or non-citizen who isnā€™t a permanent resident to own any real estate in the United States this is a serious national security issue itā€™s not just farmland they shouldnā€™t own any real estate any pipelines in United States this is an extreme national security issue. With the amount that they currently own they can do market manipulation, for their rental properties that rent that would normally be in the state or country or in a US retirement account is now going overseas to support another country. As far as the farmland growing hay for cattle in Saudi Arabia no no that needs to be done here in the US for us cattle. What if they did just simply decide they would no longer sell to American citizens and export it all I mean the UK canā€™t have farms anymore Iā€™m sure that was a Government gift to Monsanto, simply because Ukraine is their bread basket and Monsanto now has the contract for Ukrainian agriculture. But yeah the UK cannot have farms anymore so they canā€™t grow any of their own food what if they decided to buy us land and start sending the food that they grow in Us in the USA over to the UK that would be a problem thatā€™s taking from Americans and I understand why they will have to do that but itā€™s still taking from Americans itā€™s taking from our mouths itā€™s taking off of our table itā€™s manipulating the price by taking it out of our country because the price is higher when it leaves our country

Thatā€™s a great move and itā€™s time to end All foreign ownerships because you never know when another country is putting pressure on one that happens to own real estate in the US.

I can understand if they want to buy land next to our Military base or near a technological business location then perhaps not allowing them to purchase is fine. And because China donā€™t allow US to buy their land then itā€™s Mutual understanding. Then I guess it would be very difficult for other countries to keep renting our land and start a business here in the US.
