Bottled water tests of all the major water brands currently available in grocery store shelves, is laden with unsafe amounts of various toxins per EPA guidelines. For instance, Evian has actual Uranium in it, per public water reports done by Oasis.
90% of water sold currently to consumers across the country are toxic, having high levels bisphenols which harm reproduction, nitrates which disrupt thyroid function, radium and more.
The current status quo policy of the United States, is that bottled water companies do not have to adhere to the same guidelines as tap water. Not only that, the amount of microplastics found in cheap plastic water bottles is significantly high, especially when shipped to southern states during summer months. This too comes with a whole host of reproductive, neurological, and other health issues.
Additionally, all soft drinks, from soda to energy drinks are not required to meet the required standards either, causing poor quality unregulated water to make it’s way into billions of bottled drinks consumed per year.
What should be done?
Set new bottling standards similar to EPA tap requirements
Require all bottled water to be in glass OR plant fiber (like hemp)
Randomize test and fine all companies in violation for safety standards monthly
Fine said companies based on % of net earnings with tiers based on total # of bottles sold
